The Design Center is a historic market place located just a short walk away from the Santa Fe Plaza. We house various businesses including restaurants, retail stores and services for your needs. The Design Center was recently purchased and is now under new local ownership. It is being restored as a unique building and landmark in downtown Santa Fe with the vision of creating a vibrant gathering place for businesses.
The building’s interior and exterior will be refurbished to reflect its historical significance while providing a modern and comfortable space for businesses to operate. The Design Center will be a place where businesses can share ideas, collaborate on projects, and support one another.
The goal is to make the Design Center a unique and attractive destination for both locals and visitors. The owners are exploring the possibility of hosting events and activities that will bring people together and promote the local community. Ultimately, the new local ownership of the Design Center is committed to creating a dynamic and sustainable space that reflects the unique character of Santa Fe while providing businesses with the resources they need to thrive.
Originally, the Design Center was built as a Chevrolet car dealership and service center in the late 1940s.
The architecture features large glass garage doors, metal work ceilings, and uneven cement floors that are now uneven due to so many years of use. The building is truly unique and we intend to restore it while also honoring it’s history and location in downtown Santa Fe.
